Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra recently took to his YouTube channel to rate the top knocks of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The 48-year-old said that KL Rahul’s knock of 152 not out in the Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings game was the best.
Speaking about it, Chopra said, “Best innings? It has to be KL Rahul; there were many amazing knocks played this season. Rajat Patidar’s 93 not out in the first qualifier, Shubman Gill’s ton in the second qualifier or the 75 not out by Virat Kohli in the finals. We cannot forget the twin 90’s by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as well.”
India’s former opener then said, “But for me, the best knock of the season was by Rahul, where he scored that 152 not out. This is the highest score made by any Indian in the T20 format, so he has to be number one.” The previous record for the highest score by an Indian batter was held by Tilak Varmawho scored 151 off 67 balls in 2024 for Hyderabad against Meghalaya.
When asked to name his best bowling spell, former India batter said, “In a season that was dominated by the batters, I would say the fifer by Mohsin Khan is the best spell this season. Even though Bhuvi and Hazlewood did well in the powerplay to decimate DC’s batting, feel Mohsin’s only five-wicket haul by a bowler this season was the best of the campaign.”
Match 35 of the IPL 2026 season saw DC vs BKS being played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Rahul got an early life in the innings when a catch was dropped at the square leg boundary by Shashank Singh off Arshdeep’s bowling. A Karnataka-based batter took 26 balls to reach his fifty and took another 21 balls to bring up the three figures.
34-year-old raced to his next fifty runs in just 19 balls and ended up on 152 not out from mere 67 balls with 16 boundaries and nine sixes. TheCapitals ended the innings with a mammoth score of 264 on the board. Punjab then created a record when they chased down this target with six wickets in hand and seven balls to spare.
Shreyas Iyer was not out on 71 and was granted lives twice in a space of a few minutes, with Karun Nair dropping his catch near the boundary.
