Delhi: Former Indian batsman Robin Uthappa did a unique ‘this-or-that’ session on the social media platform Instagram, in which he has selected his ‘uncapped playing-11’ based on his excellent performance in IPL 2026. In this challenge of choosing one among two players for each position, Uthappa appeared to be in a dilemma at many places.

Uthappa trapped between Suryavanshi and Priyansh

The biggest dilemma that Uthappa faced for his opening pair was between Rajasthan Royals’ explosive young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Priyansh Arya. Suryavanshi created havoc with the bat this season and scored 776 runs and won the Orange Cap, while Priyansh Arya also added 364 runs in the season.

Uthappa kept Punjab Kings’ Prabhsimran Singh as his opening partner, who scored 510 runs with the help of 6 half-centuries in 14 matches this season, although his team could not make it to the playoffs.

Dhoni’s name surprised in the middle order

For numbers 3 and 4, Uthappa expressed confidence in Angkrish Raghuvanshi (422 runs) and Naman Dheer of Mumbai Indians. Naman Dhir had scored 318 runs this year at a strike rate of more than 147. However, the most surprising decision was at number 5 position, where Uthappa surprised everyone by choosing the legendary MS Dhoni. Let us tell you that due to injury, Dhoni could not play a single match in this entire season.

Responsibility of all-rounders and spin department

Left arm spinners Prashant Veer and Harsh Dubey made place as all-rounders at number 6 and 7.

Prashant Veer scored 90 runs in 6 matches this season at an average of 45 and strike rate of 134.32. At the same time, Harsh Dubey showed his amazing spin and took 8 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 28.50.

SRH pair excels in fast bowling

Uthappa has included the dangerous uncapped pair of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Praful Hinge and Saqib Hussain in his pace attack, who together took a total of 29 wickets in this tournament. Apart from these, Digvesh Rathi and Prince Yadav have got entry in the team to strengthen the bowling attack.

At the same time, Uthappa has selected Ashutosh Sharma of Delhi Capitals as an ‘impact player’ in his team.
