Star Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma entered her name in the record books by becoming the leading wicket-taker in women’s international cricket. Deepti needed just one wicket in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 match between India and Australia at Lord’s to surpass Jhulan Goswami’s tally of 355 wickets, and she achieved the feat by dismissing an Australian opener, Beth Mooney, on the first ball of Australia’s 10th over in the run chase.

The ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match between India and Australia at Lord’s is Deepti’s 279th appearance for the Women in Blue, and she now has 356 wickets to her name.

The Agra-born cricketer, who claimed a five-wicket haul in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener against Pakistan on June 14 in Birmingham, has taken 22 wickets in six Tests, 166 wickets in 124 ODIs and now has 168 wickets in 149 T20Is.On the other hand, Jhulan Goswami finished her international career with 355 wickets in 284 matches. She dismissed 44 batters in 12 Tests, 255 in 204 ODIs, and 56 in 68 T20Is.

In the list of players with the most wickets in women’s international cricket, Deepti and Jhulan are followed by Australia’s Ellyse Perry (336), England’s Katherine Sciver-Brunt (335), England’s Sophie Ecclestone (333) and South Africa’s Shabnim Ismail (323). Deepti, who won the Player of the Tournament award at the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, is already the leading wicket-taker in women’s T20Is. She has taken two more wickets than second-placed Thailand spinner Thipatcha Putthawong, who has 165 wickets to her name in 105 matches so far.
