Australian Women’s Cricket Team created history as they won their seventh T20 World Cup title by seven wickets on Sunday. Sophie Molineux’s side beat hosts England in what turned out to be a one-sided affair at Lord’s. The win came when Sophie Ecclestone bowled five wides that handed the Aussies yet another title with 17 balls to spare.

Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar took to his X handle on Monday and wrote, “Congratulations to Australia on another World Cup title! The unbeaten run really shows how well they managed different match situations and stayed consistent throughout. That kind of stability is usually what brings trophies home.”

The International Cricket Council’s chairman, Jay Shah, lauded the champions on his social media and wrote: “Congratulations to Australia on winning their 7th ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title with another incredible campaign.”

Mr. Shah also had words of encouragement for the English side. “Huge credit to England cricket, too fantastic runners-up but champions in spirit. This tournament reminded us why women’s cricket is unmissable – power, passion, and pure class on display from start to finish. Thank you to both teams and everyone who made this World Cup so special. Women’s cricket is in a golden era.”

‘Too good to be true’ – Sophie Molinuex ecstatic after yet another World Cup win

Australia captain Molineux was over the moon after leading her side to the title win.

What made the triumph special was that her side had stayed unbeaten through the course of the campaign. Speaking at the end of the game, she said, too good to be true, special win, and my father is here as well, which makes it even more special.”

The 28-year-old also added, “A lot of thought, hard work, and effort have gone into this win. Just a group of people who wanted to do anything for each other.

And that’s been the real theme over these last three or four months, playing for each other and caring for each other.”

Losing skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt said, “Really disappointed with the loss. We’ve had such a great competition up to this point. And, I suppose to end like that feels a bit sour in the mouth at the moment. But, yeah, we were outplayed today by a class Australian side that used all of their experience in a huge final.”

Beth Mooney was named the player of the tournament for her 238 runs with the bat.

The opener also won the player of the match for her knock of 64 off 49 balls with 10 boundaries in the final.
