Current champion Argentina has reached the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup. They defeated Switzerland 3–1 in the last quarter-final match. Lionel Messi’s team has reached the semi-finals of the World Cup for the 6th time. Argentina took the lead in the 10th minute at the Kansas City Stadium. Mac Allister scored on Messi’s pass.

In the 67th minute, Dan Endo scored for Switzerland to tie the match at 1–1. The regular score remained unchanged for 90 minutes and no goals were scored in injury time. The match went into extra time. Julian Alvarez scored in the 112th minute and Amy Martínez in the 121st minute, taking Argentina to the World Cup semi-finals for the second consecutive time. Now they will face England on 15th July.
