Team India’s loss to England in the T20I series has stirred massive reactions. Men in Blue have lost their second successive series after the reversal against Ireland. Former Indian wicketkeeper and batter Deep Dasgupta questioned skipper Shreyas Iyer and coach Gautam Gambhir after the heavy loss.

The 49-year-old questioned the duo’s decision-making and also said that the visiting side’s bowling and fielding weren’t up to the mark. India today quoted the former cricketer as saying, “In the field, India have been way below par – both catching and outfield-wise. A series to forget for India, but you obviously have to try and learn from it. There is inexperience in this side, especially in this series.”

Saba Karim had questioned Iyer’s decision to bowl Shivam Dubey in the 19th over with the pacer conceding 22 runs. England batted first and scored a mammoth 257 on the board thanks to Jos Buttler’s 131 and Harry Brook’s 95 not out. In reply, the Indians scored 201 for 8 and lost by 56 runs.

Deep also said that there weren’t any positives to take from the series, which saw the current T20 World Cup winners lose their top spot in the rankings. “But there aren’t too many positives to take forward, apart from an innings here and an innings there. I think tactically England have been superior in this series. Some of India’s plans have not sat well with me.”

Can India bounce back in the ODI series?

Shubman Gill’s side will begin their three-match ODI series against England on 14th July. The series also witnesses the return of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. The duo hasn’t played since the IPL 2026 season. Kohli was injured while batting in the finals, while Bumrah was rested to manage his workload.

Rohit Sharmawho played in the Afghanistan ODI series, will be looking to put some runs on the board. The veteran batter had scored 79 runs in the Chennai ODI to mark his return to form. It will be a key series for the visiting team, considering the next ODI World Cup is just 15 months away.
