Andries Gous, Ravindra Star in Freedom’s Clinical Chase Against MI New York

An impressive knock from Rachin Ravindra and Andries Gous has set up Washington Freedom’s 5-wicket victory against MI New York in the MLC 2026 clash at Dallas.

Ravindra (60) and Andries Gous’s (96), in the clash, have guided the side towards third position in the MLC 2026 points table.

Being invited to bat first, Monank Patel and Quinton de Kock opened the innings while Glenn Maxwell opened the bowling attack. De Kock got dismissed cheaply for 2 runs by Saurabh Netravalkar.

With Monank Patel’s dismissal for 17 runs by Glenn Maxwell, MI New York lost the wickets of the openers in the power play.

With Nicholas Pooran and Kunwarjeet Singh at the crease, MI New York scored 42 runs in the power play.

Holland broke the crucial partnership, dismissing Junwarjeet Singh for 26 runs. Rachin Ravindra bagged the wickets of Romario Shepherd and Kieron Pollard for 2 and 3 runs respectively.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran smashed fifty and went on to score 86 runs off 44 deliveries before being dismissed by Saurabh Netravalkar on an lbw.

Ben Dwarshuis bagged the wickets of Tajinder Dhillon and Shakib Al Hasan in the final over for 4 and 18 runs as MI New York scored 187 runs in a 20-over innings.

Saurabh Netravalkar, Ben Dwarshuis and Rachin Ravindra bagged two wickets each, while Glenn Maxwell and Ian Holland bagged a wicket in their spells.

Chasing 188 run target, Mitchell Owen and Steve Smith opened the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack.

Shakib Al Hasan bagged the wicket of Owen for 7 runs, while Boult bagged the wicket of Steve Smith for 3 runs.

With Rachin Ravindra and Andries Gous at the crease, Washington Freedom scored 44 runs in the power play.

The duo stabilised the innings and forged a 116-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Rachin Ravindra smashed a fifty and scored 60 runs off 30 deliveries before being sent back to dug out.

Ben Dwarshuis, who came to bat at No.5, was dismissed by Trent Boult for 6 runs. In the meantime, Andries Gous smashed his fifty and went on to score 96 runs.

With closing to victory, Ehsan Adil bagged the crucial wicket of Gous in the 18th over. However, Nikhil Chaudhary and Glenn Maxwell went on to complete the innings in the 19th over.
