India wins first women’s Lord’s Test, beats England by 270 runs

India won the first women’s Test at Lord’s, defeating England by 270 runs.

Chasing the target of 457 runs, England was out for 186 runs in the second innings.

Lord’s: India defeated England by 270 runs in the first women’s Test played at Lord’s. India had given a target of 457 runs to England but on the fourth day of the match, England was out for 186 runs in the second innings.

India had scored 285 runs in the first innings. In reply, England was all out for 170 runs. India got a lead of 115 runs. India declared the second innings at 341/7, leaving England a target of 457 runs. Chasing 457 runs, England had a very poor start. Tammy Beaumont, Maya Bushier, Heather Knight and captain Nat-Brunt were out early. Amy Jones and Sophie Ecclestone struggled by scoring 54 and 50 runs but the English team could not last long against the Indian bowlers.

Sneh Rana took 4 wickets. Sayali Satghare, Kranti Gaur and Deepti Sharma took 2 wickets each. The entire England team collapsed for 186 runs and India won the match by 270 runs. Yastika Bhatia played an inning of 113 runs in the second innings. Smriti Mandhana also scored 70 runs. Smriti had also scored 83 runs in the first innings. Richa Ghosh also gave the team a strong lead by scoring unbeaten 50 runs. England won the toss and decided to bowl first.

From India’s side, Shefali Verma was out without opening the account. After this, India scored 285 runs thanks to the innings of Smriti Mandhana (83), captain Harmanpreet Kaur (58) and Deepti Sharma (57). Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Filler took 2-2 wickets for England. In reply, England’s first innings ended at 170 runs. Kranti Gaur took 5 wickets. Sayali Satghare and Sneh Rana took 2 wickets each, while Deepti Sharma got one wicket.

Amy Jones scored 52 runs and captain Nat Silver-Burnt scored 44 runs but the rest of the batsmen could not survive. Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma gave a start of 88 runs to the Indian team, which came to play the second innings with a lead of 115 runs. After this Yastika Bhatia took charge and played a brilliant inning of 113 runs. She made a partnership of 73 runs with Smriti and 52 runs with Deepti Sharma. Richa Ghosh scored 50 not out and Sayali Satghare scored 18 not out to take India to 341/7. England spinner Sophie Ecclestone took 5 wickets but India took a lead of 456 runs.
