Cricket fans in Bangladesh may finally get to see the Indian cricket team in action after nearly four years. Times of India has reported that India may finally get the all-clear for the tour soon. Men in Blue will play three ODIs and T20Is during the course of the tour.

If the series takes place, then the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan could be postponed by a few days.

The report stated that the series could be played in September after India’s tour of Sri Lanka ends on 27th August. Shubman Gill and his side will play two Tests in Galle and Colombo. There was also a request for limited-over matches that couldn’t be agreed upon between the two boards.

One Bangladesh Cricket Board member told the TOI, “We are confident about the tour.

The BCCI hasn’t given its green signal yet, but they haven’t said no to the tour either. There is an expectation that we get a positive answer from the Indian cricket board soon.”

Former batter Tamim Iqbal, speaking to the aforementioned publication, had earlier said, “There is a scheduled series against India later this year. We are hopeful that they will come and play the series.

This is the one series that people in Bangladesh really love to watch, and we did well against India last time around.”

What happens to the Afghanistan series?

If the India tour of Bangladesh takes place in September, then the Afghanistan vs India T20I series could face postponement. The series was set to be played on September 13, 16, and 19th at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Men in Blue will also host the West Indians in a white-ball series that is set to begin on 27th September.

India’s calendar is getting busier as they are set to tour New Zealand from 22nd October to 1st December. This will be followed by a short home series against Sri Lanka in late December and a 3-match ODI series against Zimbabwe in January next year. Focus will then shift to Test cricket as Australia will tour India for a five-match Test series from 27th January 2027 to 3rd March 2027.
