Delhi: India’s limited overs tour of Britain ended with the last ODI match played at the prestigious ground of Lord’s on Sunday. The Indian team could not perform as per expectations against Ireland and England. The blue jersey team, which arrived on the tour as T20 World Champions, had to face many disappointing results, due to which the end of the entire tour was much different than expected.

India suffered a crushing defeat in T20 International

The England tour started with the T20 series against Ireland, where the Indian team had to face defeat 0-2. After this, even in the five-match T20 series against England, India could not open the winning account and had to face defeat by 0-4. The impact of this performance was also visible on the ICC T20 rankings, where India lost the top position.

Despite a good start in ODI, the series went out of control

After a disappointing performance in T20, the Indian team made a fresh start in the ODI series with the return of experienced batsmen Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill. India gave positive signals by winning the first match, but England performed brilliantly and won the next two matches. With this, the host team won the ODI series 2-1.

Now preparations for Zimbabwe tour

Immediately after the England tour, the Indian team’s next campaign will start against Zimbabwe. The three-match T20 International series between the two countries will start from July 23 and will continue till July 27. All the matches of this series will be played in Harare.

After the Zimbabwe tour, the Indian team is going to be busy in all three formats this year. The team has to play two foreign tours as well as two home series. Especially the Test series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand will be very important for the ICC World Test Championship.
