Delhi:After the end of the ODI series against England, now the two most experienced players of Team India, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will remain away from international cricket for some time. In the third ODI played at Lord’s, both of them batted brilliantly, but their hard work could not help the team win. India lost by 27 runs and England won the series 2-1.

Rohit and Virat will not play for some time now

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli now play only ODI cricket. Both of them retired from T20 International after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. After this, in May 2025, both of them also said goodbye to Test cricket.

After the conclusion of the England tour, India’s next ODI match will be held in late September this year. In such a situation, both the veteran players will get a break for some time.

Will return against West Indies

Team India will play a three-match ODI series against West Indies at home in September-October.

Will be seen in action on New Zealand tour also

After the West Indies series, Team India will tour New Zealand in November, where both the teams will play five ODI matches. This series will be played on 4, 7, 10, 13 and 15 November.

After this, India will play home ODI series against Sri Lanka in December and Zimbabwe in January 2027. This means that before IPL 2027, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will have a chance to play at least 14 ODI matches.

Will keep an eye on 2027 World Cup

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s biggest focus will be on the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be played in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe from October 4 to November 21, 2027.

Virat Kohli has been a part of the Indian team that won the ODI World Cup in 2011, whereas Rohit Sharma has not been able to win this title till now. In such a situation, both the legends will try to make their last World Cup challenge memorable.
