Birmingham Phoenix will be without Jacob Bethell for the 2026 edition of The Hundred Men's competition after the England all-rounder was ruled out with a right knee injury.

Bethell sustained the injury while playing for England in the recently completed ODI series against India. Although he helped England secure the series victory, medical evaluations later confirmed that he would not recover in time to take part in The Hundred.

The injury could also affect Bethell's availability for England's upcoming Test series against Pakistan, with his rehabilitation schedule still being monitored.

The 22-year-old has established himself as one of England's leading young all-round talents, offering valuable contributions with both bat and ball. His absence removes an important option from Birmingham Phoenix's middle order and bowling attack ahead of the new season.

Phoenix head coach Shane Bond acknowledged the disappointment of losing Bethell, noting that the all-rounder had been expected to play a key role in the team's plans for the tournament. The franchise is currently evaluating possible replacement options before its opening match.
