If they can replicate their success in England on the batting-friendly surface in Harare, India will have a proper opening pair to herald a new era of aggressive opening batting.

2. Vaibhav Suryavanshi & Prabhsimran Singh: Tactical Balance

The main issue with an Abhishek-Suryavanshi opening is not about skills but rather balance. At the top of the order, there will be left-handers like Ishan Kishan or Tilak Varma to balance out the right-handers. In T20is, it would allow for exploiting the off-spinners at crucial moments in the innings early on.

Zimbabwe, however, has highly rated off-spinners such as Sikandar Raza and Brian Bennett who sent Abhishek back to the dressing room for his first-ever T20i two years ago. Therefore, India might need a right-left opening combination. Prabhsimran Singh can provide the Punjab batters with the much-needed tactical balance and flair to switch-hitters depending on the situation at hand.

If Sooryavanshi needs extra time to adjust to the demands of international cricket, India can call upon the services of Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh.

Together, they present a formidable opening pair, having shared the Punjab innings in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy:
