Delhi: The Indian team defeated Zimbabwe by seven wickets on Thursday at Harare. Despite this, former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra has raised questions on Team India. India entered the match with only five bowlers, they did not have any sixth bowler. Akash has reacted regarding this.
The Indian team had all-rounder Shivam Dubey as the fifth bowler. At the same time, he had no option for the sixth bowler. While talking on his YouTube channel, Akash said, “When the Indian team was selected, there were only four bowlers in it – Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav, Ashok Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi. There was only Shivam Dubey as the fifth bowler. There was no sixth bowler. That means India had already decided that it would play without a sixth bowler.”
However, Akash also praised Team India for showing confidence in Shivam Dubey. He said, “Shivam Dubey gave only 32 runs in his four overs. These days he is also taking wickets in his very first over. His wicket was also caught through a catch in the deep. India making him bowl the entire four overs and going with only four specialist bowlers shows that the team management has a lot of faith in Shivam Dubey. According to me, this is a big thing.”
Shreyas Iyer finally got his first win as the captain of the Indian team. Earlier, they had to face defeat 2-0 against Ireland and 4-0 against England. India defeated Zimbabwe by seven wickets on the Harare ground due to the sharp bowling of Mayank Yadav and later the explosive batting of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Mayank took two wickets in bowling. At the same time, Prince Yadav also got two successes. In batting, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 50 runs in just 19 balls, due to which India easily won the match.
What question did Aakash Chopra raise on the playing eleven of the Indian team?
Aakash Chopra said that India had gone with only four specialist bowlers and Shivam Dubey as the fifth option. According to him, the team did not have a sixth bowler, which was a big risk regarding the selection strategy.
Why did Aakash Chopra praise Shivam Dubey?
Aakash Chopra said that Shivam Dubey gave only 32 runs in his four overs and the team management showed full confidence in him and made him bowl the entire four overs. According to him, this shows that the Indian team is considering Shivam Dubey as a reliable bowling option.
