Indian all-rounder Ashutosh Sharma has been ruled out of Hampshire’s One-Day Cup match against Derbyshire on Tuesday with an injury.

In a preview announcing the squad, Hampshire said, “Ashutosh Sharma is unavailable due to an injury he picked up during Sunday’s match – pace bowler Harry Petrie, who featured in the opening three games of the competition, comes back in.”

It did not specify the nature of his injury.

Ashutosh has had a mixed One-Day Cup campaign. In seven matches, his batting — seen as his stronger suit — has yielded just 56 runs with a highest score of 16.

However, his bowling has been a revelation, and he is Hampshire’s leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets at an average of 15.92 bowling medium-pace.

Hampshire currently sits fourth in its group with four wins in seven matches, and faces an uphill task to qualify for the next stage of the tournament.
