Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed in terrible circumstances on day one of the Galle Test on Saturday. The incident happened on the final ball of the 11th over with KL Rahul playing Keshara Nuwantha. The 34-year-old placed the ball towards mid-on and set off for a quick single.

Jaiswal, who was at the non-striker’s end, got into a tangle with the bowler and lost his footing. By that time, Rahul had reached the bowler’s end, and Prabath Jayasuriya hurled the ball towards the wicketkeeper. Niroshan Dickwella glanced towards his captain before taking off the bails.

Umpires had a chat with Dhananjaya de Silva and wanted to know if he wanted to go ahead with the appeal. The home team captain didn’t flinch as the Indian batter had to make his way back to the hut. It was a cruel way to get out for the batter who was looking good and had given the team a great start.
