Galle saw an action packed second day as Indian side ended up with 460 on the board. Start was delayed for over 5 hours as the weather played with the groundsmen to frustrate the players. The game began at 2:35 PM with a maximum of 43 overs to be bowled in the day.
Rishabh Pant was the first man out when he holed out to Sonal Dinusha for 39 to give Keshara Nuwantha his maiden wicket. The off-spinner then had KL Rahul caught by Nishan Madushka for 82 runs. Devdutt Padikkal went past 150 before he was stumped off Prabath Jayasuriya for his best score of 167.
Nuwantha got his third wicket when he dismissed Ravindra Jadeja LBW for 13 runs. Dhruv Jurel though was at his attacking best and reached his fifty and ultimately fell for 51 runs from 68 balls. Visiting side then sent Mohammed Siraj ahead of Kuldeep Yadav who swung the willow to score 11 runs while Manav Suthar perished after scoring 24 runs.
One can assume Shubman Gill would be keen on overnight declaration and give his seamers early bite at the cherry. There is evident spin on this surface and the likes of Jadeja and Suthar in particular could be a handful for the batters with the bounce they tend to get.
What will happen on day three? One has to wait and watch

Dhruv Jurel who was under pressure coming into the game score a brilliant 50 in the first innings. His knock ended when Dhananjaya De Silva took a fine diving catch to his right with India’s score reading 432. It is a good total on a wicket which is expected to turn as the game goes on and spinners are expected to play prominent role.

One brings two for Keshara Nuwantha, the off-spinner got the ball tom bounce and induce a thick edge of KL Rahul’s bat and Nishan Madhuska at short-leg did the rest. Rahul was out for 82 off 175 balls and India have lost wicket number two on day two.

It was the second new ball which did the trick for the home team. Rishabh Pant did not want to play the waiting game as he gave Keshara Nuwantha the charge and mistimed the ball and saw Sonal Dinsha take a good catch as Pant was out for 39. That has brought KL Rahul to the wicket as he resumes nearly 24 hours after retiring out for 77 runs.

Grim news again from Galle as the conditions overhead have gone dark and the play is expected to be held up again. It is frustrating for the players as well considering that the Indian side had taken firm control of the game on Day one. Strategies will change now and we might see some quick runs being scored with a possible declaration on the cards, that is IF the game starts today.
