Charlie Dean will take over from Nat Sciver-Brunt as England captain for its three-match series against Ireland in a squad that sees several senior players rested.

Dean had previously taken over from Sciver-Brunt for the ODIs against New Zealand as she recovered from injury early in the summer, and captained England when she was ruled out with a calf injury during the T20 World Cup.

Along with Sciver-Brunt, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Amy Jones, Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Bell have all been given a break.

In Jones’ absence, Alice Capsey — who was the reserve wicketkeeper through the summer — will take the gloves.

There are two uncapped players named in the squad — seamer Grace Potts and wicketkeeper-batter Kira Chathli. There also several players with only a handful of international caps including Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Jodi Grewcock, Charis Pavely, and Ryana MacDonald-Gay.

The series will take place between September 1 and 6 at Leicester, Derby, and Worcester.
