India captain Shubman Gill described their 165-run victory over Sri Lanka in Galle as "very satisfying" after his team delivered a complete performance in all departments to mark India's 600th Test with a memorable win. Speaking after the match, Gill reflected on the challenges posed by unpredictable weather and a tricky pitch, but praised his side for holding their nerve when it mattered most.

"We were in a comfortable position, but we weren't sure if the match would even finish because of the weather," Gill explained. "That put us under a bit of pressure, but the team responded brilliantly." He also clarified India's aggressive approach in the second innings, which led to a few early wickets. "We wanted to get around 400 and play aggressively because we didn't know how many overs we'd get on Days 4 and 5. That was our thought process, and overall, we were still in control."

Gill reserved special praise for Devdutt Padikkal and Manav Suthar, whose individual brilliance shaped the game. On Suthar, he said, "He's been bowling magnificently since his debut. He looks like a promising guy who can serve India for a long time." About Padikkal, Gill added, "His hundred was magnificent, but what stood out was how he carried on to get a big score. That's the difference between being in a competitive match and a comfortable position. Even in the second innings, the way he dominated the spinners was a treat to watch."

Concluding, Gill emphasized the bigger picture, saying, "Test wins don't come easy, and this one is very delightful. The WTC is our ultimate goal, and every victory like this keeps us moving in the right direction."
