Delhi: Indian captain Shubman Gill has a chance to achieve big achievements with the bat in the second test against Sri Lanka. The second Test of the series between India and Sri Lanka will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo from 23rd August.

The Indian team won the Galle Test by 165 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Now Gill's eyes will be on making the team win the series as well as making two big records in his name.

Gill can become the batsman with most centuries in WTC 2025-27

Shubman Gill is currently at joint first position with Joe Root in terms of scoring most centuries in the current cycle of the World Test Championship. Both the batsmen have scored 5-5 centuries in this WTC cycle.

If Gill is successful in scoring a century in any innings of the Colombo Test, he will surpass Root and become the batsman with the most centuries in this WTC cycle.

Just 26 runs away from 1000 runs in WTC 2025-27

Gill also has a chance to complete 1000 runs in the current cycle of WTC in this Test.

So far he has scored 974 runs in 9 test matches at an average of 69.57. That means he needs only 26 runs to complete 1000 runs. In this matter, England's Joe Root with 1174 runs and Harry Brook with 1147 runs are ahead of Gill.

Gill's bat did not hit the ball

Shubman Gill could not impress with his batting in the first test. In the first innings of the Galle Test, he could score only 16 runs on 28 balls.

Even in the second innings, Gill's bat did not work and he was out after scoring only 8 runs. In such a situation, the Indian captain will try to make a strong comeback with the bat in Colombo.

India has a chance to win the series

India defeated Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the Galle Test to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. In that match, Devdutt Padikkal played a brilliant inning of 167 runs, while in bowling, Manav Suthar played a big role in India's victory by taking 10 wickets.

Now Team India would like to win the second test and win the series 2-0. At the same time, the Sri Lankan team will have to win the Colombo Test at any cost to level the series.
