Delhi: Once again everyone's eyes were on 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, playing for East Zone in Duleep Trophy 2026. A big innings was expected from him in the quarterfinal match against North East Zone, but his innings could last only for 6 balls. Vice-captain Vaibhav scored 8 runs in 6 balls and returned to the pavilion after being caught brilliantly in the gully.
North East Zone won the toss and decided to bat first. There are many strong batsmen in the East Zone team, so it was expected that the team would score a big score in reply. Everyone's eyes were especially on Vaibhav Suryavanshi, because this was a good opportunity for him to prove himself in red ball cricket.
East Zone's innings was started by Abhimanyu Easwaran and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Easwaran hit a four in the first over and Vaibhav standing at the other end started waiting for his turn.
This 15 year old batsman did not show any hurry in the first two balls and let both the balls go empty. After this, Vaibhav made his intention clear by hitting brilliant fours on two consecutive balls.
He hit the first four through mid-wicket. After this, he played a brilliant cut on the ball of fast bowler Biswarjit Konthoujam, which quickly went across the boundary.
But on the next ball Vaibhav once again tried to play an aggressive shot. This time the ball took the edge of the bat towards the gully, where the fielder took a brilliant catch. In this way Vaibhav's innings ended at 8 runs in 6 balls.
The most special thing about Vaibhav Suryavanshi's batting has been his confidence and aggressive style. At an early age, he has made a habit of putting pressure on the bowlers. But in red ball cricket this approach can sometimes go against them.
The fast bowlers of North East Zone were getting movement on both sides of the pitch. In such a situation, it was necessary to spend some time against the new ball. Vaibhav made a good start by hitting two fours, but lost his wicket while attempting the third boundary shot. This was an opportunity for him where he could show his preparation and patience in red ball cricket by playing long innings.
