Yuzvendra Chahal 6-7 Celebration: Yuzvendra Chahal has joined the growing list of cricketers embracing the viral ‘6-7’ celebration, recreating the gesture during Northamptonshire’s County Championship clash against Lancashire at Old Trafford. The Indian leg-spinner produced the celebration after dismissing Joe Moores, beating the batter with his wrist-spin before knocking over the stumps. Chahal later shared footage of the wicket and his reaction on Instagram, combining his County Championship clip with the original viral celebration performed by Medhavi Bidhuri in the Women’s Delhi Premier League. Chahal Stars With Ball As Northamptonshire Seal Big Win

The celebration came after an impressive outing for Chahal, who played a key role in Northamptonshire’s emphatic victory over Lancashire.

The 35-year-old returned figures of 3/39 from 18.4 overs, an impressive contribution on a surface where the fast bowlers generally enjoyed more assistance. Northamptonshire eventually completed a commanding 316-run victory at Old Trafford.

The result was particularly significant for the county side, marking their first red-ball win at the Manchester venue since 1999.

Chahal has also enjoyed a productive spell in England during the 2026 season.

He claimed 15 wickets from seven One-Day Cup appearances at an average of 21.00 and had already collected 31 County Championship wickets during his previous two stints with Northamptonshire.

The leg-spinner returned to the county for a third spell in 2026 after representing Punjab Kings in the IPL, where he picked up 12 wickets.

How Did The ‘6-7’ Celebration Go Viral?

The celebration originated with Medhavi Bidhuri during the Women’s Delhi Premier League and quickly became associated with the viral ‘6-7’ meme.

Bidhuri first performed the gesture on August 20 while representing Central Delhi Queens, following her dismissal of South Delhi Superstarz batter Nishika Singh. She finished that match with 2/24 from four overs.

Three days later, she brought the celebration back after removing East Delhi Riders batter Vanshika Lila. Bidhuri recorded figures of 1/26 in that game.

The gesture appears to be a reference to Bidhuri’s jersey number, 67.
