Sri Lanka’s hopes hang by a thread on Day five in the second Test against India at Colombo but Sonal Dinusha, in his just his fourth Test, has kept the island nation alive with a fighting half-century.

The left-hander has arguably been Sri Lanka’s standout performer in the ongoing series, having scored four consecutive half-centuries, including his maiden century (100* off 168 balls) in the first Test at Galle.

The 25-year-old made his Test debut against Bangladesh on June 25, 2025 against Bangladesh and has since scored 370 runs in seven innings at an average of 61.66.

Dinusha is yet to play an ODI or T20I but going by his performances, a call-up could definitely be right around the corner.

The middle-order batter’s first class record is equally impressive too- in 69 matches, Dinusha has scored 3882 runs at an average of 46.21, including 12 hundreds and 20 half-centuries.

Sri Lanka will be hoping Dinusha can convert his 50 into a hundred and push the match towards a draw.
