Delhi: The situation is not clear yet whether South Africa's star fast bowler Kagiso Rabada will be able to play in the upcoming Test series against Australia or not. The right-arm pacer suffered a hamstring injury in his right leg during practice with domestic team Lions in August. Currently, he is trying to regain his fitness under the supervision of Cricket South Africa's medical team.
Due to injury, Kagiso Rabada will not be able to take part in the three-match ODI series against Australia. This series will be played in South Africa from 24 to 30 September. According to Cricket South Africa, Rabada's selection in the Test team will depend on his recovery and his fitness will be re-assessed closer to the series.
The three-Test series between South Africa and Australia will start from October 9 in Durban. It will be very important for South Africa for Rabada to be available in this series, because he is one of the main fast bowlers of the team. His absence may put additional pressure on the bowling attack.
Kagiso Rabada had performed brilliantly in the final of the 2025 ICC World Test Championship. In the match played at Lord's, he played an important role in South Africa's historic victory by taking a total of 9 wickets. South Africa won the title by defeating Australia in the same match.
South Africa and Australia are currently among the top two teams in the World Test Championship table. Both have their eyes on the final to be held at The Oval next year. In such a situation, the upcoming Test series is considered very important for both the teams.
