Indians in County Cricket: Nabi makes Surrey debut, Mayank opens Durham account

Auqib Nabi and Mayank Agarwal made their debuts for Surrey and Durham respectively to headline Indian participation in the latest round of the County Championship.

As many as seven Indians were in action for county sides across the first and second division for the fixtures beginning on Wednesday.

J&K seamer Nabi ended his first day wicketless, sending down 11 overs for 25 runs for Surrey against Yorkshire. Rahul Chahar bowled two overs for six runs, and took a catch to dismiss Matthew Revis.

Surrey also has Mahipal Lomror contracted, but he did not feature.

Kuldeep Yadav has returned to the Yorkshire side, and batted till stumps to end the day to finish on six from 22 balls.

Mayank also made his debut for Durham against Northamptonshire. Batting at number five, Mayank hit his first two balls for four and finished the day 25 not out from 37 balls.

Yuzvendra Chahal picked up Mayank’s captain Alex Lees leg-before for 24, and sent down nine overs for figures of one for 23.

Manav Suthar and R. Sai Kishore are also playing for Warwickshire and Gloucestershire respectively, but were not called into action on Day 1. Jaydev Unadkat is also with Sussex, but has been rested for its fixture against Essex.
