Saurashatra cricketer Aryan Savsani and Tanmay Baloda from Haryana were named replacements for Rohit Yadav in India’s under-19 squad for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Tuesday.

“The Junior Cricket Committee has named Saurashtra Cricket Association’s Aryan Savsani as Rohit Yadav’s replacement in India U19’s One-Day squad, while Haryana Cricket Association’s Tanmay Baloda has been named as his replacement in the Multi-Day squad,” the Board said in a release.

India will play three ODIs and two Youth Tests against Australia in Rajkot and Ahmedabad.

All three Youth ODIs and the first Youth Test will be played in Rajkot, while the last red-ball game will be played in Ahmedabad.

A leg-spinner who came through the Bengal system, Rohit earned his India U-19 call-up after impressing at the junior level. He was part of the squad that travelled to Sri Lanka, where he claimed six wickets in the Youth Test against Sri Lanka U-19. He was subsequently selected for the series against Australia.

However, Rohit was found to have changed his date of birth multiple times over the years and on finding it out, the BCCI decided to impose a two-year ban on him with ‘immediate effect’.

His rapid rise has now been overshadowed by discrepancies found in his Aadhaar records during an age-verification exercise.
