Kolkata Knight Riders are ecstatic following their team’s decisive victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final, which earned them their third IPL championship. KKR won the IPL title for the first time in ten years thanks to a flawless season-long effort.
The KKR players were in a celebratory mood after their title triumph. Flamboyant all-rounder Andre Russell was seen dancing enthusiastically to the hit song “Lutt Putt Gaya” of KKR co-owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s famous film.
He was joined by Bollywood actress Ananya Panday, while head coach Chandrakanth Pandit was also grooving to the catchy beats. Ananya has been a regular supporter of KKR this season, often spotted in the stands alongside Shah Rukh’s daughter Suhana Khan.
Andre Russell’s all-round heroics were instrumental in KKR’s title run. He claimed 19 wickets and scored 222 runs at a blistering strike rate of 185. In the final, the star all-rounder took 3 wickets while conceding just 19 runs.
KKR’s third IPL title celebrations commenced at Chepauk Stadium, the same venue where they had previously won the championship in 2012 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.
Russell expressed his excitement at being a part of the final after the win, saying that winning the title is amazing.
“Being part of this team, even when I am not picked, I supported the team all the way. It brings a sense of satisfaction. But being in the starting XI in the final and contributing for the franchise, takes that feeling to a whole new level of excitement.” said Russell.
The 36-year-old all-rounder went on to discuss his batting technique.
“My approach is to keep my front leg still, stand as steady as possible, and delay my trigger movement for as long as I can. This allows me to push straight if the bowler delivers a wide ball, as I’ll be positioned on the off-stump and have good access to the delivery,” he added.
